Skillz to (Ideally) Pay the Billz

I'm back with a vengeance...or so I hope at least...

Let me get to the point with immediacy so as not to lose anyone off the bat(which has been hitless in recent weeks):
Everyone has skills to pay the bills.

It is now midnight on the west coast, which means that my Philly-self is again awake in the wee hours of the morning, drawing up thoughtful conclusions about life. And that is the most recent one I have stumbled upon.

Sure, it seems obvious, but when you think about it, how many people reach their potential? In my moderately humble opinion, it's a small percentage. Think of everyone you're close with, and their unique skill sets. How many people are fully utilizing the God-given tools they have at their disposal? Conversely, how many are settling for the "just getting by" lifestyle?

These thoughts began stewing in my mind as I was learning a new cover on my ax tonight. (On a side note, the tune was in the same vein as The Fray cover of Kanye's "Heartless"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgnFKNvmV7o) It was a stellar jam, and I began realizing that most people haven't seen my potential as a fledgling artist, and the actual fulfillment of said potential could make this awkward 23-year-old unrecognizable. Writing and covering different songs may be an untapped resource in my arsenal, but most of my friends have territory themselves that they have yet to fully explore which they should. Everyone's got something to bring to the dinner table, even if they aren't sure yet whether it's a salad, a soup, or chicken nuggets.

Finding a niche is one of life's most puzzling explorations. And that doesn't necessarily mean finding a career. These aren't always interchangeable actions. What I'm saying is that the pursuit of a dream should cater to the strengths that an individual has innately. There's a balance, a healthy middle ground, between being a settler and being an unrealistic dreamer. Dreams do not magically become reality. Rather, the people who find their calling are the ones who have best learned their skill set and how they can build on their foundation. Finding your niche= Finding your skillz to pay the billz.

And if writing vague, wordy blogs is your niche,

well then, you're the author of ryforry.blogspot.com

Very deep Ryan, I couldn't agree more though. It is a shame to see people go through their lives either unwilling or unable to reach full potential. I believe it is the job of family, friends, mentors, counselors, etc to help people realize their potential for greatness and guide them to succeed in reaching the peak of their potential.
